If someone would have told me in April 2021 that I’d not only be a manager of accounts and staff but living alone happily in a city, I’d have laughed. Not because I necessarily doubted myself but because everything about my life two years ago is the complete opposite; relationship, living with my parents, and being made redundant during COVID.
Last week, marked my two-year anniversary at Gather Social and it prompted me to reflect on my time at the company and the mad journey I’ve been on. It's been a journey filled with personal growth, increasing responsibility, and a hell load of learning and laughs along the way.
When I was first offered the job, I actually didn’t jump at the opportunity. I had also been offered a job in my hometown, where I was living at the time and I had a choice to make; to stay in, or step out of my comfort zone. Obviously, it’s clear what I chose, and it was hands-down the best decision I’d made in my life.
The environment and team were much different when I first joined Gather Social, but it still didn't take me long to feel like a member of the team, however, now this feeling is on another level. I’ve developed from a content creator to a manager, and during the process met amazing people and made life-long friends too.
It’s the little things at Gather that emphasise this. From our work birthdays and the thoughtful presents from the team to my acquired responsibility to organise work socials and the Christmas do (which I secretly love), these tiny moments really confirm my significance in the team.
I have learned so much from my colleagues and the company as a whole. I have had the opportunity to work with and manage exciting clients, attend university marketing courses, and expand my skill set. Each day at Gather brings a new challenge, but I thoroughly enjoy facing them, and I’ve been able to learn new ways to adapt, prioritise and overcome them.
However, my personal growth extends beyond my professional development. Gather Social has provided a supportive and nurturing environment that has allowed me to become the best version of myself. I have been encouraged to take risks, step out of my comfort zone, and embrace new experiences. As a result, I feel more confident, self-assured, and capable than ever before.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the amazing team at Gather Social. I have been fortunate to work alongside some of the most talented, creative, and inspiring individuals I’ve ever known. I am proud of how much I have grown and learned during my time at Gather Social. I feel nothing but appreciation for the opportunity to be a part of this incredible company.
Going forward I am excited to develop in my role, grow the team and my management skills, and work closely with our MD to streamline the client onboarding process. Over the next year, I plan on improving my analytical ability and practicing making my own data-driven decision to improve clients' ad campaigns and results.
Most importantly, I have been so happy during my time at Gather Social. The company's culture and values align with my own, and I feel like I am part of a community that genuinely cares about its employees' well-being.
