Two years ago, I embarked on an exciting adventure at Gather Social, not knowing that it would be a transformative experience. As I bid farewell to this incredible chapter and embrace new beginnings in London, I can't help but reflect on the valuable lessons I've learned and the skills I've developed during my time at Gather Social.
You may think it odd for me to be writing a blog about leaving the company on the Careers Website but it represents what kind of a place Gather Social is. They boost up their employees, teach them incredible skills and encourage them to follow their dreams. It’s a perfect place for graduates, to learn the basics of the working world and go on to do incredible things.
The Small Agency Advantage
Starting my career at a small agency like Gather Social was a decision I'll always be grateful for. It provided me with a unique perspective on the marketing industry. I learned to wear multiple hats and juggle various tasks and responsibilities, which ultimately honed my organisational and time management skills. The fast-paced nature of agency life demanded adaptability, and it was here that I truly understood the importance of staying agile in a constantly evolving field.
In my role as Social Media and Content Manager, I got a taste of leadership and the responsibilities that come with it. I was able to help grow and expand the team by hiring new employees as well as managing some great clients and leading creative content shoots. Collaborating closely with the Managing Director to grow the business, I had the opportunity to pitch and acquire new clients, skills that I will carry with me into my new job.
The Opportunities were Endless
What makes agency life truly unique is the diverse range of opportunities it presents. Gather Social was no exception. I had the privilege of experiencing so many different aspects of marketing early in my career. From the fundamentals of working with clients to experimenting with innovative social media strategies, I was constantly learning and growing. This invaluable experience gave me the confidence to step into new challenges with enthusiasm.
Now, I find myself at the beginning of an exciting new adventure—working in the motorsport industry. This is a dream come true for me, as it combines my passion for Formula 1, travel, and social media marketing. Bagging myself a job at a bigger marketing agency based in London was truly a career goal of mine and working at Gather Social definitely helped me get there. I'm so excited for what's to come in the near future and I'm eager to document my travels and experiences on my TikTok account, sharing my love for motorsports with the world.
Gather Social was the perfect stepping stone. Being the first proper job I landed after university, my two-year journey at Gather Social has been nothing short of transformative. It has equipped me with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to excel in the agency world, and I'm grateful for every moment of it. I’ve met some incredible people along the way. From lovely clients to working with the best colleagues, I’ve had the pleasure of making some lifelong friends at Gather Social too.
From the small agency advantage to embracing growth, I leave Gather Social with a sense of fulfilment and excitement for the future. As I take the next step in my career journey, I carry with me the lessons and experiences from Gather Social, knowing they will continue to shape my path ahead in the dynamic world of motorsports marketing.
