It’s crazy to think that I’ve been a part of the Gather Social team for three months already. While time has flown by, I already feel incredibly embedded in the team, making it feel like I’ve been here for much longer. From the supportive culture to the creative freedom and independence I receive when working with clients, it’s safe to say that Gather is the perfect place for me to develop my skills. While it’s just the start of my journey here, I’m excited to see what’s in store, and to shape what I hope to be a truly successful career within the social media landscape!
Having worked within social media before, I was able to apply my knowledge and skills from these past roles to this position. However, since joining the Gather team, I’ve had the ability to develop these skills even further, while tapping into new areas of the industry which has always interested me. The main thing I love about this role is the fact it’s super varied. One day I could be out on a client shoot recording video content, putting my content creation skills to the test, and the next I could be creating compelling copy for a client's website. Within this, I feel like I’m constantly learning, developing and discovering my areas of expertise, all with the help of a supportive team behind me.
During these three months, I’ve also been given the opportunity to work on some incredibly exciting clients, spreading over a range of sectors. As well as this, I’ve been able to take the lead on them, whether that be communicating with them directly or planning and leading shoots. In doing so, this has allowed me to develop my personal skills, as well as my professional ones, and already, I can feel my confidence growing day by day. Having the opportunity to take charge and own certain projects, while receiving positive feedback from both my team and clients gives me an incredible boost - making me feel even more confident in my abilities and excited to work with more clients in the future.
There are a number of areas to the role which I love. Firstly, the flexible working policy. This is such a great perk, as we all know life can be hectic from time-to-time with appointments or other commitments outside of work cropping up. I believe having the ability to align my work to my personal schedule is incredibly important, as in doing so, it helps to eliminate stress and installs a sense of balance.
The office environment is also incredibly fun and bubbly - it’s safe to say I’m always laughing (even at our MD Sam’s terrible jokes😉). With regular team lunches, outings and chats, it’s been easy to blend into the team.
Another part I love about the role is the opportunity for development. As I’m still early on in my career, it’s extremely important for me to keep learning and developing as much as I possibly can. As an ambitious individual, Gather really supports me with that urge for growth. With monthly training days and sessions guided by my team members, it’s easy to feel encouraged and supported in my mission to be the best I can be.
However at Gather, it’s not all work work work (if you didn’t sing that like Rihanna, you’re doing it wrong 💁🏼♀️). Culture is a HUGE part of the company, and I’ve already experienced some super fun times with the team. Overall, I feel super lucky to be a part of the team here at Gather and I am so excited to see what the next three months and beyond have in store. Stay tuned!
